Practical Nursing is focused on teaching the skills needed to work as a licensed practical nurse within the medical field. The program is approved by OBN (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing) and accredited by ODCTE. Exploring this pathway, students work towards obtaining their BLS-CPR and NCLEX-PN certifications. Participation at clinical sites, background checks, drug screenings, and current immunizations are required for participation in the program. Topics covered include nursing fundamentals, maternal-newborn, pediatrics, mental health, medical surgical, pharmacology, and clinical experience. Prerequisites for Practical Nursing include: High school diploma/GED, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Long-Term Care Certification (CNA).
