This training program (including 16 hours of clinical training at a local long-term care facility) prepares you for an entry-level career as a Nurse Assistant. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to sit for the Oklahoma nurse assistant certification exam. Students will learn how to appropriately care for residents in long-term care facilities and hospitals as well as personal patient care, patient rights, lifting and turning patients, safety, infection control, vital signs, record keeping, mental health care of residents, and stress management. The course is not eligible for waivers or vouchers. The state exam is a separate fee. The course is an approved program through the Oklahoma State Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry.
Prerequisites
Students must attend Orientation.Students must be at least 16yo. Students will also be required to pass and complete an OSBI Background Check. This report must be clear of felony convictions for certain specified crimes or the student is ineligible for instruction. A list of the felonies can be obtained in the business office. Students must also be able to lift and move 50 pounds. Students must have all required vaccinations and also have a CPR/BLS Card by the time of Clinicals.
