Smart Shopping: A Grocery Store Tour

Sewing 101

  • Cost: $70

Students will be taught basic sewing skills with their own machines by a certified Family and Consumer Science Teacher. Topics include: threading the machine, winding a bobbin, common seams, selecting a pattern, purchasing fabric, laying out/cutting a simple pattern, following pattern instructions, sewing a button and hemming a garment by machine or hand. Students need to bring a portable sewing machine to class. A supply list will be provided the first night of class and students will need to select and purchase items for their simple garment by the second week of class.
