Meet Michael Kretchmar, CPA: Helping People Take Control of Their Finances and Their Future

When it comes to numbers, Michael Kretchmar doesn’t just crunch them—he uses them to empower people. A licensed CPA and proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, Michael brings more than a decade of experience in public accounting to the table. After spending 10 years working for public firms, he opened his own practice and now partners with Reed Tax Services, a trusted name that has been serving the Midwest City community for more than 80 years.

Michael’s passion lies in helping both individuals and businesses thrive. He specializes in non-profit accounting—an area that demands a deep understanding of specific accounting requirements—but his client base spans industries and business types. What unites them all is Michael’s commitment to making complex financial information accessible and actionable.

He especially enjoys working with nonprofit leaders, many of whom are business owners themselves. Michael understands the challenges they face and speaks their language, helping them streamline their operations, remain in compliance, and make informed decisions that align with their mission.

This summer, Michael is teaming up with Mid-Del Technology Center to offer two valuable community education courses designed to give people the tools they need to take charge of their finances and their future. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to serving the Midwest City-Del City area through accessible, high-impact education.

1. Get Out of Debt and Stay Out of Debt

This class is focused on practical personal finance strategies. Michael walks students through the process of building and maintaining a budget, explaining the difference between fixed and variable expenses, and introducing tools and apps that can make money management easier. The course also covers strategies for debt consolidation and includes a discussion on retirement accounts and contributions. Whether you’re overwhelmed by bills or just want to make smarter financial choices, this session offers real-world help you can use right away.

2. Form Your Own Limited Liability Company (LLC)

Thinking about starting a business? This class is for you. Michael demystifies the process of business formation, focusing on the most popular structure for small businesses: the LLC. He explains the legal and tax implications of different business entities, guides students through documentation requirements, and introduces key tools like QuickBooks. The class is a great jumping-off point for aspiring entrepreneurs—and a future QuickBooks-focused class may be coming soon.

Michael’s goal is simple: to help people feel more confident about their money and their business decisions. Whether he’s advising nonprofit leaders, supporting entrepreneurs, or teaching financial literacy, Michael Kretchmar brings a personal touch and practical insight to everything he does.
